Certification & Clinics

Lakewood Soccer encourages all coaches, managers and assistant coaches to attend age appropriate soccer coaching clinics offered by SYSI.   These coaching clinics are N.C.C.P (National Coaching Certification Program) clinics that lead to certification that is recognized across Canada.   The courses introduce coaching theory and provide hands on training related to running practices and introduces age appropriate drills.  Additionally, these clinics cover topics like:
- developing practice plans
- age/gender specific physical and physiological development
- ethics
- legal issues
- injury awareness

Lakewood supports this certification process by re-imbursing 100% of the cost of these clinics once a registered coach, manager, asst. coach has completed the course.  Lakewood will also re-imburse any registered youth player interested in taking these courses to allow them to give back to the community by coaching or helping coach a team. SYSI provides information on age appropriate certification as well as upcoming clinics.

In addition to supporting the costs associated with Soccer specific certification Lakewood Soccer will aslo re-imburse the cost of other NCCP coaching clinics.  Many of these clinics are already subsidized by the City of Saskatoon and are offered at a reduced rate.

For more information about coaching clinics, please contact our Technical Head Coach Gustavo Medrano by email at headcoach@lakewoodsoccer.com.
